¹⁷ He was 32 years old when he became king, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem. ¹⁸ But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, just as the house of Ahab did—for Ahab’s daughter was his wife—and he did what was evil in Adonai’s eyes. ¹⁹ Nevertheless, Adonai was not willing to destroy Judah, for the sake of David His servant, since He had promised to give him a lamp for his children all days.
